Congratulations to the South Dayton Dance Theater for receiving a $2,000 Community Support Grant from The Centerville-Washington Foundation! The grant was awarded in April 2020 and will be used by the South Dayton Dance Theater for their Nutcracker Ballet Backdrops Project.
The South Dayton Dance Theater was created in 1986 to highlight talents of young performers who dreamed of being a professional dancer someday. Since 1986, The South Dayton Dance Theater gives members "a glimpse of life as a professional dancer." Dance classes include both ballet and modern dance instruction. The members (dancers), who range in age from 11-18 years of age, follow a rigorous schedule in order to be prepared for their two big events / performances which include a Spring concert and The Nutcracker ballet.
The South Dayton Dance Theater "trains dancers in a fun atmosphere and helps them experience what being a professional dancer is all about." Since its creation in 1986, The South Dayton Dance Theater has committed itself to being a "pre-professional company dedicated to giving young dancers an opportunity to work with first-class teachers and award-winning choreographers."
CONGRATULATIONS again to the South Dayton Dance Theater for continuing to provide young people the opportunity to fulfill their dreams of becoming professional dancers! The Centerville-Washington Foundation is excited about the new Nutcracker Ballet Backdrops. We wish you all the best in your upcoming outstanding performances! Thank you for being a vital part of our fine arts community!
