The Centerville-Washington Foundation announced that The Reverend Harvey B. Smith, a man who has devoted a lifetime of service to others while rarely seeking recognition for his efforts, will be honored at the Founders Event on Thursday, September 26, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace. Rev. Smith is a founding member of the Centerville Rotary Club, former park commissioner for the Centerville-Washington Park District where he served for 23 years, 17 years as President, a retired Methodist minister, serving at Normandy United Methodist Church for a time, a former member of the Centerville City School Board, and even worked as head of Centerville Schools’ transportation department for a short time, among other accomplishments.
Founded in 1998, the Centerville-Washington Foundation, a component fund of the Dayton Foundation, has been successful in assisting people interested in community philanthropy by helping donors find the best ways of contributing to worthy causes.
